Beyond the Lens
Every portrait begins with an encounter. A glance returned, a playful gesture, a moment of curiosity — each photograph takes shape through the exchange between the person before the lens and the person behind it.
In these images, I am sometimes an observer and sometimes part of the scene. People look back, approach the camera, or invite me briefly into their everyday lives. Their responses shape the photograph as much as my own choices of framing and timing.
Working in black and white draws my attention to expression, gesture, and the relationship between people and their surroundings. What remains is a trace of the time we shared: brief, personal, and open to interpretation.
